The Chalé Story
Chalé is a Ghanaian fashion and lifestyle brand founded in 2015 by two brothers, Kudjo and Mawunyo. Driven by their passion for community, graphic designing, fashion, and culture, and taking inspiration from a local slang “Chale”— a term that stands for friendship, connection, and camaraderie — they have built a brand that uses fashion and lifestyle as a bridge to share Africa’s vibrant spirit with the world.
Chalé began as a socks brand that reimagined traditional Kente, Adinkra, and Afrocentric motifs in bold, contemporary forms and by so doing introduced a unique style of socks onto the Ghanaian market.
Today, the (Alewa, Sankofa, Chaskele etc), just to list a few, are best-selling products in Ghana and around the world. The brand’s range of products has increased steadily over the years and now includes Ghana inspired merchandise and accessories.
In every product design they pay tribute to Ghanaian heritage and draw their inspiration from Agotime-Kpetoe, a rural community in Ghana’s Volta Region, renowned and celebrated for its exquisite Kente craftsmanship, and where the brothers spent their early years.
Over the years, Chalé has grown into a global cultural movement, redefining fashion and creative expression. It stands as a symbol of identity, a celebration of African pride, and a platform for storytelling through bold products, immersive community experiences, and dynamic collaborations.
