SIX BLACK DESIGNERS SHINING AT THE OLYMPICS 2024

From Team South Sudan to Team Nigeria, Black brands and designers are getting in on the Paris Olympics. These are the designers who turned out for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

MOSHIONS
Rwandan fashion designer Moses Turahiwa designed the opening ceremony looks for the South Sudan basketball team.

 

LABRUM X ADIDAS
Sierra Leonean creative, Foday Dumbuya, designed the Olympic uniforms for Sierra Leone featuring a reimagined cowrie shell symbolizing strength and resilience.

 

TELFAR
Telfar clemens designed the Liberian opening ceremony uniforms which were celebrated for their collar, crafted in the shape of the Africa map.

 

STELLA JEAN
Haitian-Italian designer, Stella Jean, created uniforms for Team Haiti at the Paris Olympics . The look quickly went viral online.

 

SAMI MIRO
Sami Miro was tasked by Nike with making jackets for the five US women’s gymnasts who qualified for the 2024 Olympic games.

 

LANNY SMITH
Former basket ball player, Lanny Smith’s brand Actively black stands as the official designer for Team Nigeria. His collaboration with the Nigerian Olympic Committee marks a significant moment for the black-ownedm, diaspora-owned brand.
