VIRGIL ABLOH RELEASES AMAZING SS22 PRESENTATION FOR LOUIS VUITTON.

Born to Ghanaian parents, designer and Louis Vuitton men’s artistic director Virgil Abloh presented Louis Vuitton’s SS22 collection in a spectacular show yesterday.

The collection was unveiled through a film directed by Mahfuz Sultan entitled Amen Break, featuring talent like GZA, Goldie, Saul Williams, Issa Perica, Caleb Femi, JIM JOE, Kandis Williams, Thelma Buabeng, Octavia Burgel, Lupe Fiasco, Julian Eugene Tsukasa Williams, Damian Eugene Nagisa Williams, Shabaka Hutchings, and Malik Le Nost. In the film, ideas of transmission are explored: how one person can pass on something from another, causing waves to ripple across generations, and influencing others’ lives. The film displays an abstract interpretation of the story of artist Lupe Fiasco, where father and son are united by a loss, crossing a dreamy world to deliver a message. Through martial arts, Fiasco’s father empowered a young generation in the Southside of Chicago during the 1970s and 1980s gang turbulence.

The Collection featured olive green, red, cerulean blue blazers, neon pinks, purples, and green fur coats, two-piece suits, bomber jackets and puffer jackets, tracksuits and hoodies, ombré plaid patterns, and the classic Damier pattern identifiable on many pieces. In addition, he showed off LV x Air Force 1 models and leather accessories that were never seen before.
