In Lagos, a city that moves with the unmistakable tempo of ambition and reinvention, ART X Lagos marked its 10th anniversary with a statement that felt both tender and urgent: creativity remains one of the continent’s most powerful tools for imagining better futures. Among the voices amplifying this message was emPLE, returning to the fair as a Bronze Sponsor and the Presenting Partner of a Special Project that blurred the boundaries between art, community, and care.
Their spotlighted installation, Where There Is Life, There Is Hope (B’á ò kú, iṣẹ ò tán) by Temitayo Ogunbiyi, unfolded like a quiet meditation on movement and survival; an invitation to consider the ecosystems that sustain West African urban life. Curated by Missla Libsekal, Ogunbiyi’s work expanded her signature language of line, sculpture, and site-specific storytelling, tracing how people navigate cities, nurture connection, and build resilience through everyday rituals.

Throughout the fair, her installation became a gathering point. A place where thousands paused to examine how creativity becomes a lifeline: a way to process the chaos of modern cities, a way to locate hope in the familiar rhythms of care and community. emPLE’s partnership made room for this reflection, reinforcing their growing commitment to sustainable development across West Africa.

For emPLE, the collaboration was not merely corporate philanthropy, but alignment. “We view insurance as a platform for possibility,” noted Managing Director Olalekan Oyinade, grounding the brand’s presence in a philosophy that sees creativity, innovation, and community as inseparable from the continent’s future.
This year also marked an expansion of the company’s regional footprint. Through storytelling, strategic investment, and partnerships that centre human experience, emPLE is amplifying initiatives that echo its INSPIRE values: Integrity, Nurture, Service, Purpose, Innovation, Respect, and Excellence. Their involvement at ART X Lagos embodies the following principles, namely; bridging finance and culture, and empowering communities to imagine resilient paths forward.

Tokini Peterside-Schwebig, Founder & Chairman of ART X Lagos, framed the partnership beautifully: a shared commitment to shaping conversations that resonate not only in Nigeria, but across the continent. It is this interconnectedness of cities, of creative ecosystems, of institutions investing in culture, that defined the fair’s milestone 10th edition.

As Lagos’ Federal Palace opened its doors to artists, thinkers, and wanderers between November 6–9, 2025, one truth emerged clearly: when art and purpose converge, Africa’s creative futures become not only imaginable, but within reach. And in championing Ogunbiyi’s vision, positioned itself at the heart of that unfolding narrative; quietly, intentionally, and with an eye toward the continent’s shared tomorrow.
