MILAN — A dazzling K-pop fashion moment is set to highlight the next leg of Swarovski’s traveling exhibition, “Masters of Light,” which will open in Seoul this month.
The exhibition will take place at XYZ Seoul in the vibrant Seongsu district from October 18 to 30.
The exhibition will feature a stunning array of stage costumes and red carpet looks worn by stars like Harry Styles and Rihanna, alongside costumes from the global K-pop sensation Le Sserafim. Notably, visitors will have the chance to see the custom outfits from the girl band’s “Crazy” music video, designed in collaboration with Swarovski to catch the light during their dynamic choreography.
Additionally, the show will display five microphones used by Le Sserafim during their performance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. Each microphone is adorned with a total of 24,000 Swarovski crystals and was individually designed by each member based on their favorite color combinations. Earlier this year, Swarovski named Kim Chaewon, a member of Le Sserafim, as its local ambassador for the market.
The exhibition aims to celebrate Swarovski’s nearly 130 years of heritage and influence across fashion, jewelry, and pop culture. It explores the artistry behind crystals and their cultural impact, tracing back to the company’s origins in Austria when Daniel Swarovski founded it in 1895. Today, it operates under the vision of global creative director Giovanna Engelbert.
Visitors can expect an immersive journey through seven sections, or “Chambers of Wonder,” showcasing iconic pieces from Swarovski’s beginnings in 19th-century Vienna to contemporary K-pop culture in Seoul. The exhibition will also display a selection of ten crystal-embellished pieces from renowned fashion houses like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Armani, as well as jewelry pieces, figurines, and crystals—including the largest crystal chaton ever created. Other highlights include showpieces from the Galaxy fine jewelry collection made with laboratory-grown Swarovski Created Diamonds.
The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge upon registration via Swarovski’s Kakao channel.
As reported, “Masters of Light” premiered at Shanghai’s Museum of Contemporary Art last year before moving to Milan’s 18th-century Palazzo Citterio in June. The Milan opening event during fashion week attracted celebrities such as Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow.
