AKU+VI” New Fashion Brand Launched In Ghana To Celebrate Sisterhood

“Every woman needs a sister and Aku+Vi is that sister who is in to celebrate and share in the beautiful experiences of life”.
Those were the very inspiration behind the launch of a new fashion brand onto the Ghanaian market.
Founded by Nana K. Brenu, also the designer of the internationally acclaimed luxury brand 1981, Aku+Vi has been launched to celebrate sisterhood and contemporary life.
The launch event which took place at the beautiful Untamed Empire Concept Store located at Ridge last Tuesday saw many fashion lovers thronged the space to view first-hand pieces of Aku+Vi.
Aku+Vi is the new name for the vivacious and empowered young sister and friend every modern woman needs.
The fashion label derived its name “Aku” from a Wednesday born girl from the “ewe” tribe in Ghana, and Vi to mean Vibrant; thus Aku+Vi comes to celebrate a true reflection of our own uniqueness and self-awareness.
The Aku+Vi girl is particularly conscious of everything happening around her and is also in touch with her heritage through her silhouette, sense of style and enthusiasm.
Nana K. Brenu, states that “Aku+Vi garments are youthful, on-trend and have feminine silhouettes that are not too girly at affordable prices”.
On his decision to launch a sister brand to 1981, Nana explains that he wanted to introduce a brand that is more fun, more vibrant and more wearable.
Therefore, Aku+Vi label is designed with the aim of creating beautiful striking pieces that enliven the natural characteristics of the modern energetic and savvy girl.
The launch of the new fashion brand also saw the outdooring of their debut collection called Modern Renaissance.
The collection which was done in a presentation saw 9 models each wearing a look from the collection showcased through the “Imagination TV” concept from the Beast of No Nation Movie, to simply say imagine you wearing these beautiful pieces.
Modern Renaissance collection was inspired by the need to see the “Aku+Vi” girl rediscovering who she is and proud of what she discovers while taking on the world.
The pieces are a blend of clean details, finesse cuts with prints inspired by the renaissance motifs and Adinkra symbols to create designs that make the fashionable woman conscious of her inner strength and outward capabilities.
The Aku + Vi label is designed for the young, discerning modern African woman: She knows who she is unapologetically, she is proud of her heritage and is ready to explore and rediscover herself and her own achievements as she progresses through contemporary life as a global citizen.
