Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2025 show marked a triumphant return to the renovated Grand Palais.
The collection, presented within a monumental open birdcage installation inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s personal decorative piece from her rue Cambon apartment, served as a metaphor for liberation and self-invention.
Models glided through the structure wearing chiffon capes, slit skirts, and fluid trousers, while trench coats adorned with multicolored feather prints added bursts of vibrancy to the palette.
This departure from Chanel’s classic black repertoire embraced delicate pastels and bold hues, with tweed suits reimagined in blush pinks and sky blues, and platform-heeled two-tone shoes adding modern flair.
The front row united Chanel’s global ambassadors and fashion icons, including newly appointed house ambassador Lupita Nyong’o, K-pop sensation JENNIE, and French actress Vanessa Paradis. They witnessed a collection balancing ethereal lightness with structured sophistication—sheer overlays floated over tailored separates, while metallic embroideries caught the light like caged birds preening.
Evening wear reached new heights of drama with a sweeping cobalt cape and sunshine-yellow lined coats nodding to 1930s Hollywood glamour.
This showcase coincided with Chanel’s renewed five-year patronage of the Grand Palais, celebrated through architectural details woven into the designs—a black knitted skirt’s geometric pattern mirrored the venue’s steel-and-glass nave.
As singer Laufey’s performance echoed through the space, the show became a manifesto for creative freedom, proving that even heritage brands can spread their wings when imagination takes flight.
