Jisoo, a member of the K-pop supergroup Blackpink, is the face of Dior’s new handbag campaign.
On Thursday, the French luxury brand unveiled the latest advertising images featuring Jisoo, shot by photographer Bibi Borthwick.
In the campaign, the South Korean singer and actress is seen dressed in black against a stark white background, showcasing various versions of Dior’s iconic Lady Dior bag. According to Dior, the images are “graceful” yet infused with “rock vibes.”
The collection includes a medium-sized bag adorned with grommets and dangling pearls, another covered in a web of metallic studs, and a third featuring a silver metallic version of the brand’s signature cannage pattern.
The Lady Dior bag was first worn by Princess Diana in 1995 and has since been produced in a wide range of colors, sizes, and materials. Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s artistic director for women’s collections, has introduced new variants like the Lady D-Lite and Lady D-Joy. Additionally, the handbag has been customized by leading artists as part of the Lady Dior As Seen By and Dior Lady Art projects.
Jisoo has been a global ambassador for Dior since 2019 and previously appeared in a campaign for the Lady 95.22, a modern take on the Lady Dior. She has also represented the brand in advertisements for its makeup and clothing lines.
Many French luxury brands have turned to K-pop stars to attract audiences to their fashion shows and enhance digital engagement. Jisoo’s appearance at Dior’s Fall 2024 ready-to-wear show in March contributed to 20 percent of the brand’s overall media impact value, according to data research firm Launchmetrics.
Her Blackpink bandmates also have significant fashion sponsorships, with Jennie representing Chanel, Rosé collaborating with Saint Laurent, and Lisa recently signing on as a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton.
