In this interview, she shares what the campaign meant to her and what it truly means to be iconic in today’s Africa.
1. When you first heard the phrase “ICONS LAST FOREVER,” what did it personally mean to you?
It immediately resonated with me. For me, an icon isn’t just a fleeting celebrity. It’s a soul that leaves a mark, a lasting impression in people’s hearts. It’s a voice that transcends time. As a woman, mother, artist, and entrepreneur, I take this as a call to build with sincerity, while transmitting something profound and authentic. It’s a form of responsibility.
2. What is it like to represent a brand like VLISCO, which is so deeply rooted in culture, heritage, and identity?
It’s an immense honor and a great source of pride. VLISCO is more than just fabric; it’s a symbol of heritage and dignity. These are the pagnes (wraps) that our mothers and grandmothers wore, and that we continue to wear with pride. Representing VLISCO means embodying the strength and beauty of the African woman, in all her richness and diversity. It always brings me back to the essentials: my roots, my history, and that timeless elegance that never goes out of style.

3. If you had to describe your personal style in three words, what would they be?
Bold. Feminine. Authentic.
4. In your opinion, what makes a woman iconic?
It’s her ability to stay true to herself, no matter the context. An iconic woman doesn’t need to follow trends; she creates them. It’s not just about appearance but about consistency, inner strength, and vision.
5. Which VLISCO look from the campaign felt the most “you,” and why?
The one with the pant set. I found that it blended a bold print with a contemporary cut, making it both modern and deeply rooted. This look shows that you can be elegant while proudly staying connected to your culture. It’s this subtle blend that I try to reflect in everything I do.

6. What is a value or mindset you embrace that you believe will never go out of style?
Integrity. In a fast-paced world where image can overshadow what’s essential, staying true to oneself is an act of strength. These are timeless values. Being authentic, even in one’s contradictions, creates a deep connection with others. And it’s this sincerity that I want to convey, especially to young women.
7. How do you perceive your role as a public figure and actress in influencing how young women express themselves through fashion and identity?
I see myself as a voice and a mirror. I know I’m watched, listened to, sometimes imitated, so I’m careful about what I convey. Through my roles, my outfits, and my public speaking, I try to show that it’s possible to be beautiful, strong, and free. Fashion is a powerful language, and I want to encourage young women to use it to express who they are, with pride and without compromise.

8. What do you hope young African women will feel when they see this campaign?
I hope they will feel proud. That they will see themselves in these images. I want them to understand that their identity is a treasure, and that their beauty requires no comparison. I want them to know that they, too, are icons—real or aspiring—each in her own way, each with her own story.
9. What was your reaction the first time you saw yourself in the complete VLISCO look during this photoshoot?
I got chills, and I smiled from the bottom of my heart. I felt beautiful, whole, timeless, and above all, proud to represent these values.
10. Complete this sentence: I am iconic because…
…I am a free, rooted, and bold African woman—and I’m not afraid to be completely myself.
