British footwear brand Loake Shoemakers is joining forces with Buyerdock to roll out digital product passports for all their products.
This strategic collaboration aims to set a new standard in transparency, sustainability, and customer engagement, aligning with Loake’s commitment to innovation and responsible business practices.
The digital product passports will enable customers to access detailed information about each product, including its origin, materials, sustainability initiatives, and care instructions, all through a QR code powered by GS1 digital link technology.
Ian Smith, sustainability manager at Loake Shoemakers, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating,
“We are excited to partner with Buyerdock, a leader in the DPP space, to provide our customers with comprehensive product information for every pair of Loake shoes. This initiative aligns with our values of quality, craftsmanship, and transparency, and we believe it will enhance the customer experience. Having a unique system that will automatically generate the correct EU packaging recycle logos ensures we remain compliant too.”
This move positions Loake Shoemakers as a leader in the footwear industry, especially with upcoming EU regulations that emphasize sustainability and circular economy standards.
Kevin Dixie, co-founder of Buyerdock, remarked, “Loake Shoemakers is a brand rich in heritage, and we are thrilled they have chosen Buyerdock as their DPP solution. The automation of our digital product passports and on-demand creation of our QR code is essential for brands with thousands of SKUs. The fashion, textiles, and shoe industries will need to start developing their digital product passports soon to comply with the new EU law.”
