The fashion world’s freaking out, Luke and Lucie Meier are leaving Jil Sander!
This news came immediately after they presented their Fall/Winter 2025 collection during Milan Fashion Week, marking the end of their eight-year tenure at the helm of the German fashion house.
The Meiers’ final collection for Jil Sander was a testament to their refined interpretation of minimalism, blending the brand’s signature simplicity with bold, decorative elements such as fur coats, metallic fringes, and vibrant colors. This collection, titled “A bright metaphor of love,” featured plush shearling coats, ribbon-adorned gowns, and tinsel-esque fringed skirts, all of which shimmered under the lights of the runway.
The decision for the Meiers to part ways with Jil Sander was reportedly mutual, as stated by the brand. Renzo Rosso, chairman of the OTB Group, which owns Jil Sander, expressed his gratitude to the couple for their vision and dedication to the brand. The Meiers also expressed their heartfelt thanks to the team at Jil Sander and the OTB Group for the opportunity to lead the brand.
During their time at Jil Sander, the Meiers successfully reinvigorated the brand with their take on minimalist femininity, infusing collections with a modern, sensual elegance. Their background in fashion is impressive; Lucie Meier has worked with brands like Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga, while Luke Meier previously led the design team at Supreme and founded his own label, OAMC.
The Meiers’ departure from Jil Sander adds to the recent wave of high-profile designer changes in the fashion industry. Brands like Gucci, Dior Men, and Fendi are also currently without a permanent creative director, highlighting the ongoing churn in the creative leadership of major fashion houses.
As for Jil Sander’s future, there has been no official announcement regarding the Meiers’ successors. However, rumors suggest that Daniel Lee, formerly of Burberry, could be a leading candidate for the role. The brand now enters a new chapter, seeking to maintain its minimalist aesthetic while navigating the competitive luxury market.
