Nifemi Marcus-Bello receives special mention at 2025 LOEWE Foundation Craft Prize

Nigerian designer Nifemi Marcus-Bello has received a Special Mention at this year’s LOEWE Foundation Craft Prize for his piece, “TM Bench with Bowl.”

Presented by architect Patricia Urquiola, the work, crafted from reclaimed aluminum, was praised for its geometric simplicity and thoughtful commentary on consumerism and global trade.

Inspired by his experience shipping a second-hand car to Lagos, Marcus-Bello’s piece transforms personal experience into thoughtful design.

His recognition, alongside two other Special Mentions, marks a strong moment for global craft. The exhibition runs at Madrid’s Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum until June 29.
