The 94th Academy Awards aka the 2022 Oscars saw a lot of flashy outfits on the red carpet. Some of them indeed did defy the conventional red carpet flow.
The Will Smith and Chris Rock incident has somehow overshadowed the beauty of the awards night. But there are still some moments that need a “talk-about”. The look that has sparked a lot of conversations is Wesley Snipes’ above-knee shorts look.
The theatre superstar came to the awards night with his co-stars, Woody Harrelson and Rosie Perez, from the popular movie White Men Can’t Jump to present an award. The award was presented to Spike Lee in honour of his 30th anniversary in the movie industry.
Back to Mr. Snipes’ outfit for the night. He hit the red carpet adorned in a custom burgundy suit. From the top half, he’s wearing a jacket with a cropped, squared-off hem and a shirt and bow tie in a matching hue.
The silver brooch pinned to the lapels of his jacket might be the only detail that might have seemed out of the ordinary.
From the waistline downwards is definitely what’s making his look go viral. He took his red carpet to a different level. Instead of the usual ankle-length pants, Wesley went for a pair of Bermuda shorts with matching leggings underneath and an embroidered silk loincloth.
Of course, this seemed out of place but hey, it is called “F.A.S.H.I.O.N”! To us, he actually pulled it off better. What do you also think? Was it cool or weird?
