Osei-Duro, Presents AW15 & Resort Collections Accra, Ghana July 22, 2015 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Osei-Duro, a sustainable fashion brand based in Accra and Los Angeles, presents both AW15 (What Will Come Has Already Come) and their first Resort 2016 collection at NY Market Week.
The collections incorporate hand-dyed fabrics from Ghana and textiles from southern India in modern designs. Designers Maryanne Mathias and Molly Keogh have been creating clothing and accessories, ethically produced using traditional techniques in Ghana, since 2009.
Osei-Duro aims to help preserve and share traditional textiles and create employment and training for women in emerging market countries. The company’s recent successful Kickstarter campaign, has allowed them to expand their repertoire of traditional West African materials to include handwork from India, supporting a much wider range of artisans.
Keogh says,“The AW15 collection is a result of our ongoing exploration of hand techniques used to create sophisticated and relevant silhouettes. The combination of the soft geometry of hand-loomed textiles of southern India with the dynamic hand-dyed prints made in Ghana results in beautifully textured garments that remain decidedly wearable.
