I’m Arthur Benjamin, popularly known as Tobi. I’m a 24year old Fanti boy from Cape Coast, and a graduate from the University of Ghana, Legon with A Bachelors Degree In Psychology. I work as a Fashion Stylist And An Entrepreneur.
Debonair Afrik: DO YOU HAVE A SIGNATURE STYLE?
Yes i do have a signature style. I’m mostly in a head wear (Fedora), a tee-shirt, a pair of pant and the occasion will determine my footwear being it sneakers or slippers. That’s a typical everyday style you’ll find me in.
Debonair Afrik: WHATS YOUR BIGGEST FASHION DISASTER?
I think it would be my outfit to the 2014 Ghana Movie’s Award ceremony. I felt overdressed and so uncomfortable that I avoided any pictures being taken of me. The outfit wasn’t bad, but I think it was a little too much.
Debonair Afrik: WHAT ARE THE POINTS YOU CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING OR BUYING CLOTHS?
Well, I’ll definitely choose and buy clothes it if I love it, if it fits and if it’s not ridiculously overpriced. (Not that I may not be able to afford it, but because the item might not worth it’s price, with that I won’t waste my hard earned money)
Debonair Afrik: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MOST COMFY OUTFIT?
My most comfy outfit will be in my blazer on a shirt, over a pair of pant & in sneakers and a little accessories to match… Simply casual but stylish and classy.
Debonair Afrik : WHAT ARE YOUR MUST-HAVE FASHION ITEMS
My must-have fashion items will definitely be a head wear, sunglasses, wristwatch and perfume. That will do for me.

My fashion fantasy is to get wedded at the beach with everyone in attendance wearing a bikini. I know, it’s weird right? But yea that’s it (hahahaha)

Debonair Afrik: AS A STYLIST AND A FASHION PERSON WHAT DOES YOUR ROOM LOOK LIKE ?
(sigh) To be honest I keep a typical boy room, clothes are sometime’ scattered but I know where to find every single one when I need them (buries face in palm) but my bed is neatly layed most of the time though because my sister make’ sure of that. She’s cool like that (smiles).
Debonair Afrik: DESCRIBE YOUR FAVORITE BREAKFAST?
Well, I try as much as possible to stay healthy in every way, and my diet obviously isn’t an exception. I mostly take Oatmeal or tea beverage with wheat bread and vegetables as breakfast. I’m sure anyone on my snapchat reading this will go like “yeah that’s a typical breakfast for him” hahaha.
Debonair Afrik : IF YOU COULD HAVE A CELEBRITY ENTOURAGE WITH THREE CELEBRITIES WHO WOULD THEY BE?
I’ve actually got a lot of such celebrities in mind but it’ll definitely be Chris Attoh, Uti Nwachukwu and Yvonne Nelson…Hahahah, I know I’m going to look very short with this combination but who cares…? Can you actually imagine the attention and stares…(giggles)
STYLE TIPS…
- Wear appropriate-fitted shoe’s. Classic footwear’s are as important as classic clothing. Invest more in dress shoes and ignore the trainers.
- Forget about fashion trends, buy what looks good on you.
- Keep some clothes for important occasions only and wear the right outfit for the right occasion.
- Gentlemen, no matter the nature of your Job you’ll need to own at least one good suit in your closet, preferably black and must be well fitted.
- Always dress like a man, not a boy. Wearing t-shirt to the gym and doing house chores is cool, but to social events is a no no no.
- Own dark-fitted jeans and know when to wear them.
- Look beyond Denim, wear well cut and classically styled trousers. It will make you look a little stylish at social events than jeans.
Debonair Afrik: HAVING TO STYLE ANY CELEBRITY
YES!!! I’ve styled quite a number of celebrities like the award winning actress and tv host Ama K. Abebrese, Caroline Sampson (tv host), Sonia Ibrahim, Chantelle Asante, Moesha Buduong, Brenda Bonsu, Sandy Ohemeng of multi tv, etc. I’ve also worked with some fashion houses, models and individual who are not in the limelight.
Debonair Afrik: ANY CHALLENGES YOU’VE ENCOUTRED AS A STYLIST ?
Well, the challenge I’ve faced as a stylist has to do with the willingness of some fashion designers to give outfits. They mostly complain of not being able to sell the outfit after it’s been used for styling but forgetting that it’s also another way of advertising their stuff. This is because once a celebrity wears it, most people fall in love with it especially their fans, that’s the promoting aspect, then the business aspect is when it gets the fans to make orders from the fashion designer. I’m sure if they should look at it from this perspective, our jobs as stylist would be a lot more easier.
Debonair Afrik: WHAT WAS YOUR NICKNAME IN HIGH SCHOOL
Funny enough I had a number of nicknames back then in high school, (Winneba Senior High) but the one that really got popular was “Sweezy”. Mind you, I was very popular because I was the assistant entertainment prefect for my year group(08\09).
Debonair Afrik :IT’S SATURDAY MORNING.WHATS THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP
To be sincere, it isn’t prayer, I’m sure most people were expecting me to say that is it because that was the regular norm from growing up (well, too bad I won’t lie about my life to please anyone), prayer comes in when I’m all ready to drive out of the house but the first thing I do when I wake up from bed is I go and grab my buckets, head straight downstairs to wash my car and get ready for work.

What I look out for first in the opposite sex is if the person has got a pleasant face, that’s the only way I will even make an effort to talk to you because with that I’m assured it’ll be quite fun chatting with her.
