Debonair Afrik bounced back this year after the COVID-19 break with its institutional event the Style Lounge Weekend 2022 (#SLW22). This year’s event started off with the Creators Soiree at The Mix Design Hub. The black tie event was well-attended by fashion personalities and enthusiasts alike.

The first-of-its-kind event was tailored to celebrate creatives in the African fashion space and launch the Visionaries Fashioning Africa (VFA). The “Visionaries Fashioning Africa” is a platform that supports talents in their respective projects. The annual event is aimed at raising funds to support one fashion talent.

VFA provides a global platform for creators to make a difference through game-changing creative work, which aims to transform the industry. The Visionaries Fashioning Africa Gala is a social night to raise funds for creative talents collectively. The funds generated will be used to support and mentor projects undertaken by these fashion talents.

In attendance were creative directors of top Ghanaian fashion houses Ophelia Crossland, Clatural, Nipo Skin, and Atto Tetteh; Sandra “Alexandrina” Don-Arthur, CEO of Alexiglam Studios; media personality Vanessa Gyan; and Brimah Mahmoud, operations manager of Amin Ghana, who doubles as a stylist and creative director.

Researcher and author Ken Kweku Nimo was also at the event. In a conversation with fashion PR specialist, Faith Senam, he talked about his upcoming book: “Africa in Fashion”, where he praised the various fashion personalities mentioned in his book recounting their significant contribution to the African Fashion Industry.

Debonair Afrik (DA) is a 360-creative agency that branches into fashion, lifestyle, publication, and events. The Brand was founded in 2014 by editor-in-chief Nuel Bans, who is behind the success of the publication.

Highly acknowledged in the sub-Saharan region, Debonair Afrik has positioned itself as one of the dominating online new portals in Ghana. It distinguishes itself with its unique neo-Africanism approach to the evolving fashion industry in Africa.
