The global development of fashion has taken a different dimension over decades in Africa. This has created an arena for men to partake vibrantly and creatively in the fashion sector from the roles of models to designers to stylists ,to muas and bloggers .The world of fashion is recently dominated by men who are proud of their skillful craft and alter egos.
The fashion stylists, muas and bloggers have evolved from never being credited in editorials to now having their names fronting cover lines on magazines. Some are prolific celebrities in their own rights. Social media has rapidly changed the way people look, create and consume fashion and, for stylists today, the quest to stand out above the rest has become even more competitive.
“Fashion is the new black”
Nigeria is rapidly becoming one of Africa’s fashion city. The blossom in this sector has set a pace for most male personalities to associate themselves and brands to everything fashion. Our June issue ( new age style maniac ) which sparks a spotlight on Nigerian style connoisseurs who are très connu in the Nigeria fashion scene working in different aspects of the fashion industry but towards the same goal. An inward research into the Nigerian fashion industry came up with 3 of such style connoisseurs Ifan Ifeanyi, Adebayo Okelawal And Denola Grey .
Denola Grey
The male version of a Disney doll broke the internet years ago with his sense of undeniable fashion style and selfie tutorials. Denola’s approach to style could be described as more of exquisite, exotic and vintage.
“The year I launched my website. I teamed up Toyosi Kekere-Ekun and we shot some pictures for my website (www.denolagrey.com ) In June of that year, the launch was very well-received and I started writing for Bella Naija. I got my first TV offer with Ebony Life in November of that year and also went to some events, which gave me some great red carpet moments.”

Adebayo Okelawal
Adebayo okelawal is one of Nigeria’s ambitious and ethical fashion designers that set his brand apart from the mass with his uniquely created aesthetics. He Started the brand ‘orange culture ‘in 2011 as a self-taught fashion designer and a stylist. As an emotional designer, his collection is always moral related and mind intriguing.
