OSEI-DURO’s ETHICAL FASHION PRESENTATION AT STYLE LOUNGE 2017

Osei-Duro a designer that showcased as part of STYLE LOUNGE 2017 fashion presentation whose fashion brand is based in Los Angeles, CA and Accra, Ghana. The brand spear heads the need and encourages the practice of sustainable ethical fashion. They produce textiles and garments in Ghana applying traditional techniques including hand dyeing and weaving. The collection showcased a variety of garments which had a story to tell, from the processes of fabric production to the final products which were evident in the choice of colors and types of fabric.

 

The brand indeed stressed on it foundations of ethical fashion as the collection represented an approach to the design, sourcing and manufacture of clothing which maximizes benefits to people and communities while minimizing impact on the environment. The Batik garments were created in collaboration with hand-batikers in Ghana as the indigo dyeing was made in the Gonja district of Northern Ghana. Fashion accessories such as bracelets, ear rings and the buttons sewn on the garments were made from Lost-wax brass which was created in collaboration with traditional casters in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

Audience applauded to the wonderful designs as models posed for photographs of which the most popular among the collection was a high waist pantalon, dotted patterned blouse with a flattering hat to match with.
